  2. ∆ Stay ∆X Do You Believe I'm old enough to remember when "Stay" was a hit. Absolutely loved that record. Also specifically remember going to a shopping center in St. Louis called "Northland" and purchasing the 45 at 'Musicland.' Couldn't wait to get home and play it; all one minute and fifty seconds of terrific. Still sounds good.

Then, in a make-shift studio in a WW II-style Quonset hut in Columbia, S.C., they recorded Stay, penned by Williams, and when it was previewed for Al Silver at Herald Records in New York City he liked it enough to have it released as Herald b/w Do You Believe?, the latter recorded at his studios with the inclusion of new member, drummer /5(4).
  8. He didn't think much of it, but four years later when he had his own group, Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs, they needed a B-side for a single called "Do You Believe," so Williams had them record it. "Stay" got the A-side and went to #1 in November , five years after Williams conceived it.
